The solution to terror
There is a healthy drive for self-preservation that we have in us to protect ourselves from, for example, accidents. It is natural to feel a certain fear of heights, wild animals and thunderstorms. But then there is a destructive type of fear that controls, limits and breaks people down. The word terror comes from Latin and means ‘fright, fear’. Fear terrorizes and destroys people’s lives.
“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. Whoever fears is not perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
Jesus came to set us free from fear. God does not want us to be enslaved by fear. The solution is to understand and believe in God’s love for His children.
“And we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way God’s love is perfected in us, so that we may have boldness on the Day of Judgment, because as He is, so are we in this world.” 1 John 4:16-17
When you see God’s love for you, believe it. It makes you relax. If you understand that God really loves you, then it means that He cares about you. And if God cares about you, it means that He protects, helps and strengthens you. No problem is too small for God, nor too big.
“In this way the love of God was revealed to us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:9-10
God’s love for you has been revealed through Jesus. If you ever wonder or doubt whether God loves you, look to Jesus.
Jesus was sent here to earth for you and me. Jesus lived here on earth among us humans. He helped and lifted people, He loved the people. Then He gave His life for us on the cross, completely of free will. Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Jesus suffered and died for you because He loves you. On the third day Jesus rose from the dead. He will never die again.
If you believe in Jesus and He lives in your heart, you can know that He is always with you. He doesn’t let you down. Jesus was willing to suffer and die for you, so helping you in your daily life is already part of your life with Him. He has already done the biggest and hardest thing for you, when He suffered and died for you.
Together with Jesus, you can overcome any form of fear that wants to destroy your life. Trust in Jesus and be bold because He loves you.
God bless you.
