Burning hearts
“I have come to send fire upon the earth and wish that it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how pressed I am until it is accomplished!” Luke 12:49-50
Through Jesus we can be reconciled to God and have all our sins forgiven. Jesus made it possible through His death and resurrection for us. When we see our sin and that our self-righteousness doesn’t even come close to God’s standard, the solution is to turn to Jesus. By putting our faith and trust completely in Jesus, then we are reconciled to God, by grace. Then based on that, we can start living a new life together with Jesus.
When you believe in Jesus, you are born again, you become a child of God and God’s Spirit, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in you.
Jesus came to send fire upon the earth and it is a fire in the hearts of the believers through the Holy Spirit. Jesus made it possible for believers to be baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. But it was a high price Jesus had to pay and He was pressed over having to suffer and to die for us. On the day of Pentecost, Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit.
“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. There appeared to them tongues as of fire, being distributed and resting on each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.” Acts 2:1-4
On the day of Pentecost, the fire that Jesus had spoken of began to burn. Tongues as of fire sat upon those assembled and they spoke in tongues, words bubbling forth from their hearts.
The gift of being baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit is paid for with the precious blood of Jesus. So value and open yourself to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus really wants to give that gift to you. You can drink every day of the living water that is the Holy Spirit. Be filled with the Spirit of God, in the midst of a dark world. We need hearts that burn with the fire of God. Then we become warm, passionate, filled with power and become not just survivors but overcomers. God’s fire drives us forward to rescue people with the gospel.
Jesus has already paid so you can by grace drink of the Spirit. Tell Jesus to pour out the Holy Spirit on you now and receive in faith.
God bless you.
