Jesus
God is good
Man is created to have fellowship with God. God is good and Jesus Christ, the Son of God, constantly spoke of God as the Father. Unfortunately, the fellowship between man and God was broken right from the beginning. Man turned his back on God and went his own way.
The seriousness of the sin
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23
All people have sinned against God in thought, word, deed and also by not doing what we should have done. Before God, we all come short. It is our sin and self-righteousness that separates us from God. Sin is rebellion against God and if you die with your sins unsolved before God, you cannot go to heaven. Then you have to suffer the consequences for your sins, in hell. God does not want any man to come there.
Jesus took our punishment
God in His love has arranged a solution for us, but it had an incredibly high price.
“In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.” 1 John 4:10
A sinner cannot redeem another sinner. That is why God sent His Son, Jesus, here to earth. He was tempted by sin just like you and me. Therefore, He understands how we feel when we are tempted. Jesus was completely sinless and He never fell for the temptations of sin.
Out of free will and love for us humans, Jesus took the punishment for our sins. That’s why He came here to earth. God’s wrath and punishment, for our sins, hit His beloved Son as He suffered and died on the cross.
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isaiah 53:5-6
On the third day Jesus rose from the dead and He has won victory over sin, curse and the devil for us humans. Because Jesus died and rose for us, there is now grace and forgiveness to be received. Reconciliation between man and God is now available through Jesus. You can get an assurance in your heart that you will go to heaven when you die.
Jesus is calling you
Now you can be reconciled to God and become a child of God. You can get to know God and He wants to be your best friend.
“Therefore repent and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away,…” Acts 3:19
It is not about such a change of behavior where the focus is on you trying to change yourself. Jesus transforms the heart and that leads to a changed lifestyle with His help. Turn away from sin and your self-righteousness and turn to Jesus. Only through Him can you receive grace, forgiveness and the ability not to fall for the temptations of sin.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Put your heart’s faith and trust in Jesus. Trust that what He has done for you by His suffering, death and resurrection is enough.
“But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them He gave the right to become children of God,…” John 1:12
Open your heart to Jesus and tell Him that you want to be reconciled to God and be forgiven of your sins.
Walk on with Jesus
“and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;…” Ephesians 3:17
The Christian life is about Jesus living in your heart. Read the Bible and let it guide and strengthen you. The Bible consists of the Old and the New Testament. The Old Testament is about the creation and the time before Jesus came to earth. The New Testament is about Jesus, the Christian life and what will happen in the future. You can pray and thank God and know that He hears and loves you. Feel free to connect with other Christians and try to find a local church where you can meet other believers.
“I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it…” Philippians 1:6
Through your faith in Jesus, God has now begun a good work in your heart and He will not let you down. Believe and trust in Jesus. He both wants and can help you in everything that has to do with your life.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
